lyrics

It's here; it's back again, the curtain's spread, I brace like my demise.
Right here; The strike again, I'm still alone, I'm still trusting my eyes.

--And all they see is restless skies;
My vision's blocked by this passionate surprise.

It's here; Its chase relents, my legs move slow, my mind is lost to fear.
Right here; The clap again, I'm still afraid, I'm still trusting my ears.

--And a ringing loud is all they hear;
In the silence of a solitude so sheer.

Are my breaths so numbered? Do I owe a debt to thunder so strong? --I can't.
Can I ever fight this? I can barely keep these clenched fists anymore.

Here beneath this dark splendor, to resist, or to surrender my control.--To give up.

I can't do this on my own.

about

Jacob Goins Brasstown, North Carolina

Jacob Goins is a poet who dresses his words in delicate melody, carefully designed. Born and raised in the Appalachians, Jacob fashions folk music that shares the gentleness, the rise and fall, and the golden peacefulness of the North Carolina mountains.

In every humble effort, he strives to make art that doesn’t sing over the quiet, but rather sings with it.
